STUCO Elections

This year's STUCO elections have had a drastic change. The process that was used for a long time now was suddenly changed without the students input in the idea. Instead of each person competing for their own position such as President, Vice-President, Secretary, or Treasurer now everybody competes against EVERYBODY. It doesn't matter which position you wish to be. So it is extremely hard for those who have to choose because they do need to think about the positions, and try to choose people who are capable and the best choice to represent their class. But in my opinion this change was not the best choice the school has made. Most students are bothered and do not agree with this new system. Because if there are 4 students that win and all four of them were trying to win to become presidents it would be very hard to decide who would become what. Also some might not have the skills that are needed for some of the positions. It is a very strange idea because then many students also don't agree with some new statements that have been told and some changes that were established. As STUCO being an organization that represents students voices I think they should've at least asked the students what they thought about these changes before they were made.

♡FAVORITE POST♡

CATEGORY: INFORMATIVE

After a fabulous season here in Sao Paulo we were able to go to Big 4 and continue undefeated. With NO game lost the entire season! Hard games were played at the competitions, where the score was sometimes very close but other games were won from a difference of 20 points! We struggled and fought together as a team and were able to reach our objective, our goal. We were the only Chapel team to win first place at Big 4. Malu, Serami, and Fernanda scored home runs throughout the tournament. Fernanda Pinto even did a Grand Slam! Many unforgettable moments that will remain in every member of the team's memory. Mari, our coach, was exeptional! Helped us when we were feeling insecure and motivated us when we were winning.

Cheerleading Dance

The second dance that was performed at big 4 had to have a theme and could be different, without using pom-poms. Our theme was LADY GAGA. Unfortunately EAB had the same theme but our outfits and dance was very different. We tried to make it as original as possible, got some ideas from Lady gaga's video clips but most of the choreography was created by us. We put a lot of hard work, went after clothes, glued some sparkly glasses on a stick and it turned out all very well. We gave our all and were very proud of ourselves. We hope everybody else enjoyed it.

Cheerleading Routine

During the season all of the varsity cheerleaders practiced Mondays and Wednesdays two different dances. One of them was the routine. Which was the one presented at the pep rally. The routine contains more cheerleader moves, utilizes pom-poms, and has stunts during the dance. Our performance at the pep rally was nothing compared to our performance at Big 4. We had an amazing improvement, and had great results. We were 8 cheerleaders and there were 4 different squads. Ours, one from Graded, one from EARJ, and another one from EAB. As soon as the video is uploaded to youtube I will attach the link so anybody who is interested may watch it.

Girls Softball Champions

After a fabulous season here in Sao Paulo we were able to go to Big 4 and continue unbeatable. With NO game lost the entire season! Hard games were played at the competitions, where the score was sometimes very close but other games were won from a difference of 20 points! We struggled and fought together as a team and were able to reach our objective, our goal. We were the only Chapel team to win first place at Big 4. Girls & Boys Volleyball @ Big 4

We had two amazing volleyball teams representing Chapel at the competition. Both teams had very talented players which helped the team get to the finals. Saturday one game was right after the other and although the boys team had worked very hard they ended up loosing the game against EARJ. EARJ had a very strong team including 3 boys which played in their sport clubs. The boys should be really proud because they have grown a lot together throughout the season, have learned new techniques and played a lot better than the last Big 4. The girls had the dream team. This was the last competition for some girls and the team will have to work a lot to be able to replace them (if that is even possible). They won every single game there, but somehow lost the last game against EAB for 3 to 1. Everyone was really proud of them and knew they had done their best. Fernanda Bastos, both volleyballs team's coach, was the one responsible for taking both teams so far. She encouraged them and made them work very hard. She is a great coach and she should be very proud of what both teams accomplished.

Girls Futsal @ Big 4

The girls overcame everybody's expectations at Big 4. They gave their all and conquered 3rd place at the tournament. It was Hikari's first time playing as a goalie and she did a great job! defended many goals and helped the team succeed during the games. All the other girls fought for the ball, made great passes and tried their best to score goals and hold the score. At first Juliana Torquato, one of their best players, wasn't there because she was visiting Notre Dame. But the girls were able to make it through their first games without her. Caroline stole many balls and contributed with many amazing passes. Larissa, Jessica, and Julie received many incredible passes from Malu and were able to score goals. Sofia and Luiza also helped a lot and stole many balls. Malu's performance at Big 4 was indescribable, she played with her heart and led the team to victories and scored fantastic goals. Sometimes you didn't even have a chance to find the ball because Malu ran so fast that she scored a goal seconds after the referees whistle. The girls did their best and everybody was very proud of them!

Air Conditioners

The weather in Sao Paulo has been very unpredictable these last few weeks. One day its freezing cold while the the next day you can't stand having long jeans on. Because of these drastic changes many students come dressed in a way that is not the most adequate for the weather. So they tend to get really hot and whiney, because no one likes to get all sweaty. A very big problem we have is that not every class has a decent fan or air conditioner. Chapel has improved a lot and added new air conditioners to some classrooms but some still need some work. The school should really invest on buying air conditioners for every class, either to warm up the class or to cool it up.

Late Passes

During this last week the amount of students which arrived late increased a lot. Thats because of the constructions made for the International Festival. The school campus was chaotic during the morning. It didn't only generate traffic inside the school but also outside. One had to go out at least 10 minutes before one normally does not to arrive late at school. The school at least announced at the end of the week almost for the students to try to leave before from their houses, but when a students arrives 2 minutes late they should be excused. Because they probably were already in the school for like 10 minutes but the cars took too long to move. Finally this week everything will go back to normal and we will be able to continue with our usual routine.

Softball Tournament

Saturday 13th at PACA the Varsity girls softball tournament was taking place. After an undefeatable season not loosing one game either from PACA or Graded, Chapel was ready to bring the gold medals home. During the first game many points were scored and Chapel ended up beating the Graded Eagles. But the second game, the final, which was against PACA had a very tight score which didn't pass 7 points. We were all working very hard and together as a team. Fortunately everyone gave their all during the game and brought the gold medals home. We hope that the same will happen at Big 4!

International Festival

This year the International Festival was amazing. It was very organized and there were booths which even looked like restaurants. The food was delicious! One was able to eat delicacies from all around the globe in a matter of minutes. With great shows representing different countries. One could go from dancing tango at Argentina, to dancing samba at Brazil to breaking plates at Greece. Mexico and Brazil's booth really impressed everyone. Mexico's booth looked like a restaurant's bar, and was sponsored by Mercedes Benz and a traveling agency which takes care of tourism around Mexico. The Brazilian booth was very big and offered different kinds of entertainment. I just didn't like how they already declared themselves champions of the World Cup by writing " Caminho ao Hexa" on the booth. A statement a bit too soon to made. But in spite of that the rest was great. No one left with an empty stomach.

Chapel VS. St.Pauls

Two great teams, formed by dedicated and talented players played against each other this Friday at Chapel. A very exciting game in which Chapel started out in front, with a great first set which they won with ease. Chapel made precise plays and were in control of the game. During the second set they were trying to catch up to St.Pauls but in the last fews points of the set fell behind. During the third set Chapel won again, and were a bit nervous about the next set which they were hoping to win so the game would come to an end. Unfortunately St.Pauls won the next set and the final set too. Our volleyball players played very well, all together as a united team. The only thing they should work on should be their spikes, because that's the strong ability in the St.Paul's players. Even though we lost this game we are all very excited and full of hopes that we will make it to the finales.

BRAMUN

Brazil MUN is coming close and all the Chapel delegates must be starting to feel very anxious excited waiting for this event that is arriving. BRAMUN is the same thing as Sao Paulo MUN but it happens at Angra dos Reis at a luxurious hotel where the students participating stay for about 5 days. It is a bigger event because many different schools from around Brazil participate. It is a great experience to learn and debate. Also to meet new people and open new connections. A lot of hard work is put into it but in the end it is totally worth it. For those not participating I recommend to join next year. It is an activity that everyone who participates enjoys doing.

Research Paper

All the 10th grade students from Mrs. Feitosa's class are in the process of writing a research paper. Each student has chosen a topic of their own liking, and have started to look for websites and books to implement their work. Last year when we were in 9th grade we also wrote a research paper, but it was about careers. Now we are able to pick our own topic, and that makes it easier to write the paper, because when you are writing about something that you like it becomes fun at the same time.By now we have only researched and haven't got to the writing yet, but we will probably start that this week. Although research papers tend to be long and a lot of hard work they end paying off at the end, because you learn and other people who read it learn too.

Christmas Break

33853-Clipart-Illustration-Of-A-Happy-Penguin-Mascot-Cartoon-Character-Relaxing-On-An-Inner-Tube-Holding-A-Cocktail-While-On-Vacation.jpg
After a very stressful week of final exams vacation had finally arrived. Each student had their plans of how to spend their 40 days of summer. Some people when to the beach and others traveled outside of Brazil. Of course we couldn't be 40 days without doing any homework so we had two books to read during the break, one in portuguese and the other one in english. As we came back to school for the second semester everybody now more prepared and ready to learn. There is still a lot of getting use to do, because it is definitely very hard to having nothing to do all day and waking up at 12 o'clock and suddenly having a ton of things to do and having to arrive at school at 8 a.m.. Soon everybody will be wide awake and back on track!
